Can you speak effectively on the telephone? Are you able to write a coherent and compelling business letter? Are you comfortable with speaking in meetings and small groups and with getting up to the podium when necessary? This class will help you do it all. Class participation, visual aids, and tried-and-true organization tips will add to your self-confidence.

This is the start of a Guest Lecturer Series that extends throughout the Hallmark year. Autobiographical lectures and discussion of current photographic businesses and specialties will give you insight into the career options available to you.

Studio location is a key component to success. This class will cover the pros and cons of owning your own studio. Key locations such as shopping malls, downtown real estate, and at-home studios are compared. What you should consider regarding pedestrian and auto traffic, store fronts, accessibility, and parking will be covered. This class also looks at rental studios and compares information on relating rental costs to space requirements.

Utilizing sound design principles and knowing how to specify required areas are the foundations for creating a functional, attractive studio space. Understanding water, power, and sewer needs is also critical. You will learn about special needs of different types of studios, from cyclorama walls to freight elevators.
